There are consequences to our action and inaction alike.
Yes—perhaps it is indeed impossible to achieve the change we want to see in the world. But if we haven’t truly tried—if we aren’t continuously trying—how can we know?
We are all complicit in the failures of humanity. The only factor is whether we choose to feel a sense of guilt about it or not.

It may seem brave of me—to go out in the world and stand for what’s good in the face of evil, for what’s right in the shadow of what’s wrong—but what do I truly have to lose? What am I afraid of?
I am here for this very purpose.
If I recognize what is right, with mindfulness, patience, intention, awareness, and discernment,
I will say what needs to be said,
I will do what needs to be done,
and I will never take back the words that come from this mouth,
and I will never regret what I choose to do.

If I cannot handle the struggles of this present moment,
If I take all this luxury, comfort, and abundance for granted,
If every small misstep is a catastrophe,
If I cannot bear this tame and transitory suffering,
especially that which I have wrought and manufactured by my own doing,
then how will I ever be ready for when the world truly needs me?

There are infinitely many valid reasons to be dejected, angry, or frustrated with this existence.
There are also infinitely many valid reasons to be happy, grateful, and content with it.
If we can choose either, and still be right, why choose the one that will make ourselves miserable in the process?

No—not everything is going to be okay, and we should stop deluding ourselves that it is, and nor should we haplessly chase a state of status quo or mediocrity. Okay is not a state worth pursuing. Nor is merely good. To find good amidst—or despite—suffering, is the very point. It is an inescapable truth of the human condition.
We are blinding ourselves to the rampant evil that prowls among the shadows.
There is work to do.
